HELP Rattle underneath car after resonators installed
#12
Yeah, and it definetly helped alot... inside of the car even at startup is much quieter... there is still some drone in 5th gear on highway at around 2k rpm but its much smaller and less intense than it was before... It cleaned up the sound but it also mad them a little quieter on the outside too but i plan on putting in an offroad prochamber eventually and ive read that the resonators help with the trumpeting and drone with the prochamber also

I've had numerous rattles under the car believed to be exhaust.
Rattle 1: Plate between transmission/engine. TSB from Ford, thin metallic rattle.
Rattle 2: Over-axle hitting underbody. I purchased a Overaxle from RPMOutlet to replace my stock one after I wanted to get rid of my resonators. Had Flowmasters welded in and the exhaust got sucked and the pipe was turned in a way that looked like it cleared everything but certain ways the body laid made it fall down on the pipe. Had to pay ford an hours labor to fix it. Sucks for me!

The main place where I've had rattle issues on the exhaust was the panhard bar. But also, if your system has the mid-exhaust hangers at the rear of the transmission, the hangers can rattle there, too (the tsb for that is to put worm clamps around the rubber bushings to stop that there).
You just gotta find out where the rattle is and take it from there.

Ok so i checked the hangers and put rubber tips on the ones that looked like they MIGHT hit but there is plenty of room.. There is no hangers for the stock mid pipe.. i check the plate that ford has a tsb with and it doesnt look like thats a problem... So now i'm stumped... it sounds like its coming from the back and its a light tinging not a loud banging... thought it would be the exhaust hangers but there is no way it is...

i have paid over 300 total at 3 different shops to fix my pypes MM. still sounds like a trunk full of crickets. some times i am so sorry i ever touched the factory system...the sad thing is, it wont do it at idle, just moderate speeds and very noticable on interstate, 80+ and WOT it sounds like the cars gonna fall apart. im thinking of bringing it to Stage 3or AMP up in phoenix, maybe they know something Midas or Meinke dont

When I replaced my midpipe with a magnaflow, it came with hangars on it where there were none for stock. They stuck out just below a grey plate in the middle of the underbody .. not sure where it is cause I'm not looking at it now.. will take pics later. When I first start it up and at very low RPMs, you could hear a rattling from that general area. Being strapped for time, I snagged a couple of house clamps and threaded them around the hangars and through some holes in the plate. Now, it rattles a TINY bit, but still enough to be a small annoyance if I'm not listening to music. You can't really hear it that well outside the vehicle though. I'm wondering if I should take off the plate? Or find a way to break off the hangars since they serve no purpose? Any ideas?
