crap...wrong gas!

Thanks, I'll load the 87 tune. I'd never use octane boosters, heard too many bad things about them. Now I can rest a little easier.

Load the 87 or stock tune back, don't risk it.
edit...nevermind, didn't see it was answered already. Sorry.

NO not stock tune! he'll go lean same as not enough octane!
too much air from the intake throwing off the air fuel

Now correct me if i am wrong but isnt there a +/- 2 octane on all gas pumps. I believe it says so right on the octane button you push, i was told if you actually tested the octane rating you will be under what the displayed rating is. this came from a gas station manager.

yup im sure thats pretty close to true...
sharing lines for different grades, aged gas, bottom line... ect

Well, I loaded my 87 tune from Brenspeed. Guess I'll keep it for a while since I'll be driving 1400 miles next week to Texas. Word is, 93 octane is hard to find around there. Thanks again for all of the feedback. This website is like a 24 hr. hotline!

Depends on which section of Texas you're going through. Top of the state is 91 (and even 90 in some places), but most of the state is 93 octane. One of the benefits of having the oil and refineries there. haha.

No, you're probably not safe. The differance between an 89 and a 93 tune is simply the timing curve. More timing requires more octane to resist detonation. Running more timing with low octane fuel will allow detonation to occure. That will break ring lands. That's a bad thing.
You could add some octane booster. But trying to get regular to premium level isn't easy. Rasing pump gas 4 octane points is very difficult. You would need a lot of additives.
You really only have 2 choices. 1. Drain the tank and refill. 2. Install a stock tune for a little while.
You could drain the tank to about 1/2, and then refill with 100 octane leaded racing fuel - if you can get it.

Best option is to change to an 87 tune, or 89 and don't drive hard. Second best option is to drain the tank, put 93 in, and put the 87 in another car.
