Question about Throttles on 05 Stangs
Hey guys,
I was talking to my boss, who bought an 05 a month or 2 ago, and he mentioned that the 05's have an electonically controlled throttle vs. the traditional cable actuated throttles of old..
What's a benefit to this, and why had they changed the lay out?? My boss wasn't very impressed with it because he says there's a little bit of a delay in throttle response... Is this something that they have any fixes for yet, or is he just gonna have to deal with it??

RE: Question about Throttles on 05 Stangs
Now with the new throttle being the way that it is, does that mean that the ECU is in direct correlation w/ the TPS (i.e. the MAF is not counted on as much)?
Maybe that sounds a little confusing...
Will they ever come out with a Cable actuated throttle, or do you think they're going to just try to cut down on the lag between the Throttle and Throttle position??

RE: Question about Throttles on 05 Stangs
If I remember correctly they did this so the ecu had more control of the butterflies. Supposedly if you try to gun the butterfly will close to keep you from atremendous burnout. I think 5.0 or Mustang & Ford said they had a real problem with this when they were trying to test bolt ons on the dyno. They did however get around the fly by wire and actually hooked up a cable.

Yes, it has been reported that this type of throttle system will hurt performance of your mods. Read on Mustang 5.0 this month. They have an article explaining their problems.

Hey,
thanks for all of the info, it's a huge help... Now as flyingt mentioned, the system will almost "stutter box" the launches because it's thinking you'll spin the tires..
With the tuners, does this basically cut out that part of the ECU's programming, and allow an actual FWOT condition from a stand still??
Does this system also kick in when in motion, as in, rolling more than 5mph so for instance??
Thanks for all of the info, I think my boss is actually purchasing the Diablo Tuner in the next week or so..

RE: Question about Throttles on 05 Stangs
Don W and I are correct...
Adding a tune and CAI DOES improve the throttle response...
I drive a 2005 GT w/auto and I can tell you that the difference in WOT is greatly improved by the addition of these two mods...
