It's been about 4 months now... once the cams were in I wasted no time in getting a good tune.

the car can run really bad with the frpp cams if not tuned right.

Did you talk to doug on the phone? I'm curious if this was before or after he threw that guys car on the dyno and tested all his settings...

Before he threw "that guys" car on the dyno... not sure. No, I was never able to talk to him on the phone... kept getting vmail over and over. He would email me back two days later and I just gave up.

You may be right... good luck with the mailorder tune. Let us know how it turns out. Just seems like hit/miss to me and you never know what your a/f is...

Mine ran so rich on his first two tunes it choked me.

I'm running BBK short tubes. The low end torque you get is awesome. I noticed it after the cams and dyno tune, but I have not been back on the dyno since the headers.

Keep in mind though that those gains are with headers and CAI. LT in particular.

The shop I'm planning on getting a dyno tune from told me through email that to install them it would cost $1050. But, I don't know if that includes the price of the cams or not. Probably so but I sent a reply and hope to hear back soon. If that does include the price of cams, that would be ok since the special tools would cost me at least 300ish. The dyno tune from them is another 400.

Dang. I got confirmation from this shop that price is just the install and does NOT include the price of the cams. They sell them for 760. So it would cost me $2210 + valve cover gaskets + tax for them to install and tune the Hot Rods.

*** THAT!

I could understand if these needed springs.

Looks like I'll be buying the special tools and take the car to my uncle's shop for him to help me install them just like I'm about to do for my Kooks headers. I'll have to hope I have good luck with an email tune until I can get the dyno tune.

Dude **** that shop. It's a 5.5 hour install job on the books. Add on gaskets and you're looking at no more than 600 after tax. My install is gonna run a bit more expensive cuz this shop charges 96 an hour... however, its the best shop around the area.

I'm gonna try my luck with brenspeed's mail-order tune and see how that works out... If it doesn't, looks like the stang could be headed to a dyno for a tune.
I'm going to dyno it after cams are in regardless just to see what kind of power I'm making.

I replied back to them asking WTF is up with that price since these are NSR.

I still want them to dyno tune me though. They do an excellent job with these cams, just ask Rubrignitz. But I don't see them installing these anytime soon. That's just crazy.

I'll probably get a tune from Bama and Brenspeed as a backup since I'll be 200 miles away from home when these are installed. I gotta make sure I have something that runs well to get back.

Whoa! $1000 for installation??? That is pretty gd high. I don't see how they can charge that much. Maybe they were planning to change the springs or add limiters or something. Ask them for a written/email quote. My install was $500+the cost of new phaser bolts and a few shop materials ($528 total). There are some other decent shops in N. SA like PSI and that one around new braunfels. I would def try to get it tuned on a mustang dyno though.

Yeah I'm thinking they looked up the price for a cam install with springs. I guess I'll see when they reply back.

I originally thought about the New Braunfels shop but since you had good results from Murillo I decided there.

But anyway, we'll see. At least I have several options.
