Default D@MN 2 PIECE SPARK PLUGS

so i went to get some HT1 plugs today to change them out hoping that the previous owner had changed them already only to reveal that they had not, so after 80,000 miles im gonna try and get them out... well i got the first 7 out and the 8th and final one the threads broke away from the porcelain well i had already read all the TSB's about this and tried to get it all out in one peice, that didnt happen. since i was tired of messin with it, i started callin people and found a guy that had the ford tool to remove them and he sent out a flatbed, towed the car to his shop, got the plug out and put all my new plugs in all for the low price of $75 bucks. not to bad huh. made for a frustrating day but it all ended well

$75 was a bargain. Especially if that included the tow. I think you owe someone a nice fruit basket.

Did you use the aerokroil and let them soak before trying to take them out?

Nice price, wish I could find someone to do that for that amount.

Forgive my ignorance, does this (spark plug issue) pertain to the newer models (07+, since you have a 06)?

Sometime in 08 they redesigned the head. Or so I've read around here. There is a way to tell also but I'm not sure what it is. Some sort of serial number or code on the head itself.

From the TSB:

Affected engine build dates are as follows: 5.4L 3-V and 6.8L 3-V before 10/9/07, 4.6L 3-V before 11/30/07.

The engine build date can be read on the left hand cam cover information sticker.
