Default Tire Recommendation

What tires and size do you guys recommend for the stock 18" fan blades on my 06 GT?

I live in Chicago, but I have winter tires for the December to March time frame. But I take them off fairly late in the year and put them on again pretty early, so they need to be able to perform in reasonably cold late fall/early spring Chicago weather (so no summer only tires), but they won't really see any snow. I am looking for good traction in dry AND wet conditions (car will see plenty of rain).

I don't really drive too aggressively on the street and the car never sees the track, so I don't really need an ultra high-performance tire. I do quite a bit of highway driving and I put on a good 15,000 miles per year.

Basically, I just want a good, all-around, reasonably priced tire for daily driving. Any suggestions?

Based on your description, particularily the reasonably priced part, I'll strike the Goodyear Eagle F1 A/S's off the list. My recommendation is to choose one of the Yokohama or Kuhmo's listed in the survey ratings from Tirerack or any of the other websites that provide tire ratings. You can search based on size and performance characteristics. As far as the stock fan blades, they are 18" x 8.5" and the widest RECOMMENDED tire is a 255. The tire spec info on Tirerack provides recommended wheel widths for the tires they sell

Based on a price range of about $150 max, I am looking at either the Kumho Ecsta ASX ($131) or the Goodyear Eagle GT ($155). These were both rated higher than the stock BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDWS on the Tirerack tire survey. I am mainly interested in improved wet and dry traction, without more noise, loss of ride comfort, or reduced life. Both of these seem to improve over the stocks in all these areas, at least according to this survey.

You mentioned the F1 all-seasons. Even though these are priced at $182, they were actually rated lower than the Eagle GTs...Do you think the Eagle GTs would be good buy?
