I used ramps as well, they where tall enough but I hope you aren't a big guy b/c crawling that far down the car can get kind of tight.

I have a Hurst and love it. I have the Hurst Billet STS which is different than the one you linked to. It's supposed to be stronger and better. http://www.brenspeed.com/3915201.html

I just recently put the shifter that your looking to buy in my 08 gt. Like stated before, the hardest thing was putting the shifter back in through the floor, but with a little twist here and there it went in without any major problems. I jacked my car up on the driver side and put a jack stand under the frame. I released the jack and put all the weight on the stand and then lifted slighty with the jack to make sure, "if it fell" I was protected. I had someone standing by the car to remove the ****er, while I did all the work from underneath. Don't trust what you can't see!! Anyways, after the install i did have a little rattle later that night after some hard shifting and found out the problem was the two bolts that hold the shifter in. I put some blue locktite on them and let it sit overnight and haven't had a problem since. I love this shifter!!! Justing driving down the road with one hand on the steering wheel and one hand on the shifter ****, makes you feel like "THE MAN"....Hope you enjoy your Hurst!!!

But, I have a few questions: Is this the shifter that some have stated has a rattle to it? How bad is the rattle? Is it worth it?

Next question is about the installation...Has anyone done this installation themselves? How is the installation done and how easy is it? I'm no mechanic, but I'm somewhat mechanically inclined. I can use tools, but then again, so can most monkeys. Think of your average guy and would he be able to do it, or would he be better off just letting a professional do it?

Thanks All.
I had the Hurst installed a year ago and hasn't rattled yet. That part you linked is for the GT.
I don't know if they are interchangeable but the part number for V6 is HUR3910203.

They're not interchangeable.
The sixxer one has its arm bent a little more... Different trannies.
