I already spoke to JDM, they will provide me quotes and get back to me shortly. In the meantime...which one do I get?

I would like one to have some type of warranty on it so the motor/trans/axle since this is my DD (avg 70-80 miles per day round trip for work). I currently have very little miles on the car, but I don't want a high boost since this a DD.

Anything to recommend?
Being blown and having a warranty is tricky. I *think* the non-HO Whipples may be under warranty if its installed by a certified shop. Also, I believe the standard Roushcharger kit can be covered as well. Most people on the board are down on the Roush unit, but I like it...

You could always trade-in for a GT500.

Yeah thats about where I was at, so I just changed it to read what Brenspeed said the car was making after seeing the dynosheet. The info is out there for you guys honestly, I could care less as long as it hit my goals (which it did). I have no dyno-epeen to satisfy, lol.

If you are worried about the motor I would run 6-8psi and a conservative. Motor should last a real long time.

As far as warranty, I dont think that will happen. Just tell them you want a real conservative tune and you arent concerned about having a big number on the dyno. The motor will be fine.

Well I asked Steve what the whipple would run (non IC 400hp kit) and it's $4835. Better than lethal's price for sure but still way out of my range. I want the twin screw but the $3700 price on that Vortech just seems to make more sense to me. Guess I'll see how the landscape is next summer when I actually get serious about this.

Thanks for the info!

Even with the conservative tune, what numbers am I looking at? Also, what supercharges best fit that category?

What is better to do - find the parts yourself, or go through the tuner (since they have them in stock already)?

Well, the bottom line is if warranty and reliability on a DD are a big concern, I would have to recommend not getting a blower. No matter what, when you take a stock block and put a blower on it, there are no guarantees no matter the power level or tune, etc. Its a risk, theres no question...

The kits out there that do offer a warranty like the non-IC Whipple and the Roushcharger, both seem to come in around 385-400rwhp. That should tell you something. I believe to get the warranty, you'll probably have to not only buy the kit from an authorized dealer, but have it install by one. This could raise your overall costs by quite a bit. You're paying for that warranty in other words.

Warranty aside, you'll almost always be better off not buying the kit locally due to savings on sales tax. Its 8.5% here. On a $5000 item, thats $425.

As far as what superchargers are in that 400~ category that I know of out of the box, are Whipple non-IC, Roushcharger & Vortech non-IC. You can always buy some other HO kit and have it detuned quite a bit. Whether that is worth the money is another debate...

I agree with you Mudflap. My Mustang is not what I commute to work in and if gas prices double again, I can chose to keep it in the garage except on Sundays.

I was looking at this Roushcharger - http://www.mossmuscle.com/Shop/ViewP...eIndexID=65873

Says you have to ship your PCM away to be programmed - but, but, but...I have headers. I need a custom tune for that. I'm sure the Roush people have a nice safe tune that I'd like to have (if I got a roushcharger). Wonder how having Roush's tune customized could be accomplished.

I also wonder if somebody else's Roushcharger tune is as good or better than Roush's. Same questions for Whipple.

I am liking Roush's compatibility with the factory warranty. And since my goal is 400rwhp, I'm figuring I'm there with roush + my longtube headers.

Hmm, you'd probably want to call Roush on this. I believe they are only going to warranty the kit if you're using their tune. I can't imagine they would if you used someone else's (I wouldn't). I am not sure if they'll be willing to warranty a car that was anything other than stock+Roush.

IMO attempting to keep the warranty is somewhat futile. It just seems like they can always blame you for driving like a maniac or anything else. You've got enough mods on the car already that I would think getting warranty work done is probably sketchy now. I mean, if your radio dies or a power window or something goes out, they would probably cover it no problem... but engine/suspension/drivetrain??
