Automatic Shifter Handle Repacement - About time
I think it looks great. I also ordered mine with red stitching. It goes with my other red accents. When Charlie gave me the tour of his plant he showed me the different iterations that this project went through. He kept at it till he got it right. This is a well engineered product that you can count on.
It's not really an issue not seeing what gear your in since its pretty hard not to know. Park is all the way foward and it stops so you can't miss that one. Reverse is the first one down from park and it too locks into place automaticaly so you can't miss it either. Neutral will not lock so it will by pass it and lock into Drive. If you think about it most drivers of autos don't even look at the gear indicator.
It didnt take me long to install did have a few things I had to double think and try over. The one thing was that little metal pieces underneath and getting it lined up. You have to make sure it is pushed up into the keyed position and hold it there with a screw driver.
You were correct no need to look at the indicator. You pull back and it locks into drive anyway, you know what never looked at it before either so it doesnt matter. Also the overdrive button on the side works perfect.
Hey glad you are working with the Koolknobs guy he could make you come really cool stuff to bundle with the shifter if folks want to have a ball sent with it.
Thanks again, I am super happy!!! I am going to go and set the old T handle on fire in my BBQ pit...

Ok, all done! Pretty easy to install but I still need to get my chrome trim ring modded so it will fit over it and finish off. I did mine different than others and did not use my plastic trim ring to hold the leather in place and instead I did a tuck into the center counsel to give it a cleaner look and to get it ready for the chrome trim ring. Really like the way it looks!

The whole or inside dynamiter is too small and will not fit over the leather and shifter base so it needs to be enlarged by about 3/16" of an inch all the way around. I'm going to see if I can get it done tomorrow. The center cap I custom made myself. I wanted one with the snake on it but I did not want it to say GT500 so I found some center caps of the right size on ebay and pick them up and made my own. Not easy but its do-able
Awesome looking...
I like the tucking it in. I think what would really add to this product would be a trim ring that was part of the boot and all you had to do was clip it in and it was done. Am sure it would add to the cost or possibly could be an option with or with the integrated trim ring.
I am happy though this product was well worth it
