Default tune question

i bought a used saleen vi supercharger and right now its installed. i came with the xcal3. they used the xcal3 to return the other car to stock(the guy i bought the supercharger from swap-out) now is it my understanding that i can't use the custom tune that's in the tuner for my car because it was for the original car? also, if i was to get a dyno tune, do i still need to purchase a email tune. i was under the impression that you could do one or the other. does the dyno tune kinda tweak the email tune. im kinda confused right now. i would appreciate any ideas and comments. thanks.

Correct me if I'm wrong anyone. This is just what seems intuitive to me. If you go to a dyno shop that knows what they're doing with Mustangs, the dyno tune will be a lot better than any email tune. The dyno tune, which is specially tailored to the specific variances and timings (and anything else) of your vehicle, would definitely replace the email tune. I would go so far as to say that a dyno tune is probably a necessity when you're supercharged.

Oh and I'm not sure that you can use an X3 that has tunes on it from another car. You might have to wipe it clean and load your own (email or dyno) tunes on there.

You will have to wipe it clean to use with your car. There is a code in the PCM that is specific to you car and must be used. The person that is dyno tuning your car will create the tune and load it for you. No need for an email tune.

If you get an e-mail tune, when you down load it to the tuner you have to over write one of the tunes in the tuner. if you get a custom tune the shop will load the tune for you. Either way you get to name the tune so you will know which tune is for your car. The tuner can hold three custom tunes, so if you buy three tunes you will over write the previous tunes and the tuner is now for your car. A custom dyno tune is the way to go with a supercharger or when your finished modding your car. Once you get a dyno tune you will not need another tune unless you add more mods to your car.
