Default SC and stock trans

Well, as you know or don't know the Tremec 3650 is only quoted for 360 ft lbs of torque.

http://www.ttcautomotive.com/English...ts/TR-3650.asp

However according to an article from Transmission Digest:

The factory rates the 3650 at 360 ft lb. of torque, which is extremely conservative. I race against mustangs which are easily putting out 500-600 lb ft of torque with no ill effects on the transmission. Present day America is ruled by lawyers and most of the factories tend to be very conservative on torque ratiings to prevent unnecessary litigation.
So how many are running the stock trans, and what issues - if any - have you had? Also, if you don't mind - please put in how about how many miles you had since your SC was installed. That way we know when these issues could arise.

Not sure about how many miles I've put on it after the whipple install, but I have around 100 passes or so (on MT ET Streets) at the dragstrip since it has been on (prob about 150 passes before it was installed). I haven't had any serious issues with it besides crapping out the 3rd gear synchro, but that happened before the blower (power shifting at the track). Seems to be pretty strong, considering how much I beat the hell out of it. I've blown up a heavy duty aftermarket clutch shifting into 4th gear at the strip, and the tranny held up like a champ.

I just bought a vortech s/c and would also know what other people think about this. How long will the stock transmission last if you have around 400ft-lbs?

I was told by my tech that the tranny is a work horse and should not have any issues with SC applications.

I've been running my S/C on the stock clutch & transmission for more than 20,000 miles with no issues what so ever.

14,000 miles since the blower, 26,000 on the car. If you don't try to power shift, then I doubt you will have an issue. My stock clutch lasted me 8,000 miles before the slipping became dangerous.

Stock trans with RST clutch. Trans is running like a champ for 13k SC miles.

Only weak point is the input shaft. You can upgrade it but not worth it under 500rwhp from what I have read.

Basically dont worry about your trans it will be fine.
