Default Hey, new here....

Hey everybody, my name is larry, i just turned 17 last week and this coming spring, i'm getting a V6 05 stang, and i know alot of people recommend the GT's but i'd rather have the V6. I was just wondering, how does everyone like their 05? I'm really into sound systems in cars so how does the shaker 500 sound, and the shaker 1000?

Thanks.

Welcome to the club, there's alot of good info here. I also went with the V6, I've only had it two days but I love it. One thing I noticed is that everything is easy to get to on the engine. No problem getting to any of the usual suspects (plugs, belt, filters, starters & accessories). I guess there is just alot of room leftover when you don't have that V8 taking up all the space.

The Shaker 500 sounds pretty good, and the bass level isn't bad. It's no boom car, but clarity seems pretty good.

hey, thanks for your reply hoose, i'm so excited to get a mustang, i had a '69 stang last summer, the engine was in great shape, but the interior was just to worn and torn, and i didn't have the money to fix it up, but i'm so happy with the new stangs, they have that old classic look again..... well your info. helped me out, so thanks.

Welcome to the forum. You will find the people here very helpfull. There is temendous wealth of knowledge here, but don't let anyone tell you there is anything wrong with a V6 Mustang! The 05 V6 Mustang has a little more horespower than the 65 Mustang with the standard 289 V8 so it's not bad at all power wise and its a very nice car. As for the sound systems, the Shaker 1000 has two extra sub woofers in the trunk powered by a 500 watt per side amp. There have been a lot of problems with the head units though. Same with the Shaker 500. There seems to be issues with the cd player. I've got a GT on order with the Shaker 500 which is standard for the GT. If it works it will be enough sound system for me but if it doesn't at least I didn't spend the extra cash to get it. However both the Shaker 500 and 1000 are extra on the V6 so given the problems people have had, you may want to just get the standard system that comes with the V6 and go for an aftermarket setup. For what Ford wants for the Shaker 500 or 1000 systems I'm pretty sure you can get aftermarket product that will outperform it. The real value lies in the car itself. The 05 / 06 has a much better chassis and brakes than previous years. Also has better fit and finish and overall design. Not that I wouldn't turn down an older model (Fox body, ect) as well, they also were great cars.
