Default Gear question

If you purchase from and have a ford dealer install gears like these

Ford Racing Performance Parts [M-4209-F373N*]

3.73

will that void the factory warranty? I understand the gears themselves wont be under the warranty but didnt know if the gears would void the warranty on the rest of the vehicle.

I'm inquiring for a few reasons
A) I'd rather not void the warranty just yet
B) I have no skill under the hood to do the job myself
C) I dont know anyone else in the area that would do the job

Gears are something that very few <1% will do by themselves. It really doesn't matter who installs your gears, it will void the warranty on everything that the differential affects. The only things that they could possibly void your warranty for is your limited slip clutch packs and the shafts that go from your diff to your wheel hubs. I have not heard of anyone snapping one of these shafts and very few have ever had problems with their clutch packs and that was from heavy tracking and high power loads. When you get them installed, make sure the installer will guarantee a "noise free" installation. Mine had to be done 3 times in order for them to get it right.

I've heard there's actually something that states unless the added modification can be proved to directly cause the problem at hand, they warranty is not voided.

Talk to the service manager at the ford dealership where you are planning on having this done at and ask them that very question.

I would assume that if the dealership does this for you they are going to warranty their work.

If you install the FRPP Gears at a FRPP dealer you will be okay on the factory warrenty. But remember the factory warrenty with NOT cover the new gears. They will be covered by FRRP. This is different then Ford. So any gear problems will need to be looked at by a FRPP Dealer, not just any Ford dealer. Other stuff on the car, no problem.

ALSO, if you have ANY, I mean ANY gear whine after the install when you are driving the car away from the dealer, make a U-TURN and return ASAP. Then have the dealer fix the gear whine. Don't even take the car home. There sould be NO, I mean aboslutly NO gear whine at all. Don't let them tell you that there can be some gear while. That is BS. Gear installs are not an easy task, and need to be done by someone who really knows how. It is not a "Do It Your Self" job. Pay to have them installed. (Unless you do this for a living. LOL )
