constant sqeak from brakes?
hey guys. 3 months ago i threw my mustang into a curb and broke my axle, control arms, and a little suspension parts. ever since i got in the accident ive had a squeak come from my rear passanger side tire. i took it in last week and they said that theyl fix it through the insurance. when i got the paperwork back today they said they replaced my driveshaft and he said that the constant sqeak was fixed. but he said that if it still does sqeak its gunna b from the brakes cause there almost worn out.
when i hop'd into my mustang to drive it home, i noticed that before i even drove it more then 20 feet there was still a sqeak. the sqeak is really loud and embarrasing. i asked him why it wasnt fixed and he said it is caused by the brakes.
so my question is could bad worn out brakes cause my rotors to sqeak without even applying or putting pressure on the brakes? it does it at all speeds from 5mph-80mph. he says its the brakes just rubbing even without me applying the brakes, i sorta call BS. what you guys think?

Well, your brakes are always "rubbing", but they shouldn't squeak. Is it an even squeak or does it sound like maybe the rotors are warped? I know that whenever you change brake pads, you need to grease the back-side of the pad that touches the caliper or else it will vibrate and squeak, but oit only does it when you apply pressure. I don't know what would be causing that unless your pads are completely worn down to the backing. In that case, you've got a bigger problem than a squeak.

the squeak goes with the speed i am driving, if im driving in a parking lot it sqeakes slowly. if im driving at freeway speeds it sqeaks alot more frequently with every rotation of the wheel... and when i apply my brakes it sounds like it sqeaks faster and at alot higher pitch.

do any of you know how much it costs to replace rear pads on an 05 v6? i asked the dude at the shop and he said he wasnt sure, they did replace my driveshaft and were supposed to replace a sheild for it. but since i got my exhaust welded on on monday they said they couldnt replace the sheild and theyl just give me a 220 dollar check. he assumes that that will cover new rear brake pads.
