I had the same problem with my radio. I took it back to the dealer and had it replaced under warrenty.

Thanks for input Cutter, but think I may just let the dealer take care of it in lieu of pulling the dash apart. If the unit does indeed need a reset, I would assume disconnecting power via the battery should have solved it and had about the same effect as physically unplugging the head unit.

Did you do a diagnostics test on it?

Mine has done that twice. Both times I disconnected the radio and re connected it. It worked both times. For some reason disconnecting just the battery didn't work for me, I think the system held some power and did not fully discharge. However to solve this problem from happening again I drove to Best Buy and picked up the Peripheral Ipod kit and installed that, Haven't had a problem since. Good luck with it!

Well, decided to try disconnecting the radio directly and no luck solving the problem. Looks like a trip to the dealer is up next.

And now I am an expert with pulling the radio area apart thanks to one of Tacobill's sticky's

My 2006 is out of warranty and the CD error/initializing message is prevelent on the screen. I cannot get the CDs to eject. Ford dealer wanted almost $400 to repair. I purchased another Shaker on eBay for $125 and hopefully install this afternoon. It seems these radios have this occurance quite frequently.

My shaker500 was doing that too.... so I bought a shaker1000 off of ebay and installed it. The Shaker1000 that I bought does it too, right off the bat. I never even got a chance to put a cd in. Can you say "epic fail" ?

This is not unusual according to the company I got my radio from. The first I received arrived with the same problem. I gave them a call and was told that sometimes in shipping it misaligns the CD heads when the package is dropped or whatever. They sent me another which works fine now.

I sold my old one on eBay for $40 in an "as is" condition. I just wish I knew how to remove the three CD's in it.
