Running the V6 hard this weekend

You youngsters! El Mirage is RICH in history. Although I've never been there, I've read alot about it in the early days after WW2 when guys would hop up their cars and run them flat out. You should have a great time, but your car will get dirty.

Two things to keep in mind regarding your S197 -
- If you have a tuner, turn off the speed limiter. Otherwise, it'll back off around 113mph.
- If the driveshaft in your 05 has the pressed-in u-joint caps instead of the ones with the retaining clips, then leave the speed limiter on. You don't want to break a driveshaft at speed.

Just make sure your tires are inflated properly, bring a helmet (as it's probably a rule, but if not, a good idea) and let it rip! Wish there was something like that in Florida!
My guess is that you'll get up to about 130-135, maybe 140. Good luck!

that sounds awesome! we should definitely get a bunch of people out there.
unless my speedo was lying to me, i had the needle all the way at the end on the freeway, then i realized i was going that fast and was like WTF.

You guys don't remember Will Smith's famous quote in the movie Independence Day??? He had to get back to El Mirage airbase to go fight the aliens lol. It's been mentioned many, many times in movies and documentaries.
Sounds like you're going to have a blast (pun intended lol).

letting off the gas in the higher rpm ranges can cause (shift lock/engine brake ) especially with a manual trans on dirt or wet conditions . almost like using the e brake without expecting it .
have fun and I would get the feel of it at lower speeds (under 100) by driving in a giant circle . That is if they allow that .
I'm jealous

lol Thanks alot for the advice.
My friend in the F150 said he is going to find the aliens from Independence day lol.
I do have the stock driveshaft but my friend thinks ill be fine because when i try to hit my top speed, im just going to cruise upto it and im not pulling hills or anything.
And a cruise down there is a great idea!

and i do hate getting my car dirty, especially since i clayed it and waxed it last saturday lol but hopefully because its so smooth it will come right off!
i cant wait, i just rotated my tires, and torqued the lugs.
Im brining my torque wrench to make sure my lugs stay tight . im also bringing a tire plug kit incase i get a flat. i can put the spare on, plug my tire, drive to the gas station to get air and im good to go again!
im really excited
