CAI + ram air = dangerous?
hey question for you guys
if i buy a ram air hood that flows air into my cold air intake
wont my engine be sucking in water when it rains/snows etc....

is their some kind of custom duct work i can do my self to prevent this?

i have a trufiber venom with functional ram air, and a CAI. I have no ducts or anything to keep the water out. I also park the car outside. I have had no probs with water getting in the intake.

I wouldn't really call that "ram air" as it isn't a closed system from the hood intake to the throttle body. Since the system just opens up above the filter, it's really more of a true cold air intake. Your filter may get wet, but since it isn't submerged, it will act just like an evaporative cooler for the incomming air. I don't think you would be in any real danger unless you are driving in standing water above the hood line, but then you're just asking for trouble. I'd be more concerned with water and debris making a mess of my engine bay. If it's that big of a concern, it wouldn't be difficult to just add a J-trap at the low point of the flow path to catch any free water that might make it's way into the hoods intake.
