Default saving weight???

I am thinking about trying some weight saving tactics, here are the ones I came up with so far, take out the spare tire and any jack, lightweight driveshaft, what about headers?? what other weight saving options make sense for a street driven car?? how much can reasonably be saved??

What happens if you get a flat tire??
Do you drive a manual, if so, what about a high performance light flywheel for your clutch?

BMR k-member and a-arms save a good bit of weight, rear seat delete, racing seats, aluminum driveshaft.

thanks for the info the BMR kit looks pretty pricey for what you get, the spare tire delete makes sense these days if your driving is mainly local and you have access to a cell phone. besides its been YEARS since I have had to put on a spare on the side of the road, probably 10 yrs or more.

what about headers is there a weight saving there??

carbon fiber or fiberglass peices (fenders, hood) if your really serious about it you could take out ur stereo, ...but somebody has to ask... R u even going to take this out to the track or r u gunna be another one of those guys that trys making the lightest daily driven car around... because if ur never gunna take it to the track then dont even bother, u need to take off 100 pounds to be just a tenth of a second faster. is not much, worth it if u r serious about racing but if ur just gunna be puttin around town then dont waste ur cars options for this...

+1 red beast. I had that mentality too. Well I still do. I removed almost all the windshield wiper fluid. Left a tad bit in there just in case. Once I get an extra set of rims/tires ill remove my spare. If something happens just call someone and tell them to get me one from my garage. There arent very many you can do if its a DD. You can replace with performance parts. That will make some stuff lighter.

a lightweight flywheel will hurt you in drag racing b/c you wont have as much inertia when you launch.

If your not using it on the track your hardly going to notice the difference. The first 200 lbs is pretty easy. Jack, spare tire, racing seats, K-member, a-arms, wheels....after that it start to get a little more difficult and expensive.

It sounds like it would be pricey to decrease the weight of your car. Are you planning on running it on the track or will it be your daily driver?
