I'm now a fanatic about where I park & who it's next to. Last year I went to my insurance adjuster and said I needed all the scratches gone (one on each side could pass for being keyed) The body shop at the dealership where I work did a fabulous job. My 2000 looks new. In the car biz they'll tell you NOT to paint your car. It lowers the wholesale value. But I like cars to look like new. I should have been more careful from the start. I's just not worth a closer parking place.

Not only is it a crappy parking job, but WHY did he BACK into the parking spot?
You must've never driven a truck before.

Everytime I drive my dads truck I will park it tail-end first. Its either extremely hard or downright impossible to get out of a parking stall backing up, especially with another SUV or elongated truck directly behind you.
Then how do you get IN to the spot? If you can back in to a spot, you should be able to back out of it. It might be harder, but thats the price you pay for driving a road hog... I think thats a cop-out. I think that folks these days don't "learn" how to manuver their vehicles like they used to. How many people had to parallel park at their driver's test? How many states *require* Driver's Ed before you can get your license? It's far too easy to get a driver's license... hence so much of the buffoonery on the roads...

And I have driven pleanty of trucks and I never had to back it in so I could still get out of the parking spot...
Are you kidding me?

Now I don't know the principles or physics behind it exactly, but nothing beats experience. When I have to park the truck, it will take me maximum 1 pass when I'm backing in. When I'm going head-first it will take minimum 2 passes, probably 3.

The hardest part about backing into a stall is mastering the technique of backing up and as you said, now-a-days a monkey can pass a drivers test, which is why not many do it.
