Default Birthday ding

Well, my wife had taken me out to dinner at the Roadhouse Grill.. a fall off the bone ribs, toss yer peanut shells on the floor and drink a beer kinda place.

Coming out, I noticed a ding on my upper passenger side door on my freshly washed and waxed Mustang. Right next to it was a maniacly lifted white Ford F250 (custom plate Hi Nuff... go figure). It wasn't there when we parked. White on my door, red on his. No note.

I didn't know how long he'd be in the restaurant so I called police non-emergency and snapped some photos with my camera phone. After a 20-30 minute wait, the driver and his girlfriend or wife came out. I told him, it looks like you dinged my car, can I have your license number and insurance number. Both of them were livid (her especially so, since it was her door that swung wide). I pointed out the paint spots left on both vehicles.

Then, the cops showed up, a bit confused becuase non-emergency told them it was a hit and run. I sure didn't tell them that and made sure the officers knew I didn't. The male cop asked if we had exchanged info. The other driver didn't have mine, so I happily started writing mine down. The officer then turned his attention to the Mustang and asked for a closer look. He said he liked the redfire more than the brighter (torch) red. Asked if it was a 6 or 8. Told him it was a V6 and that if it were the 300 hp V8, he and I would be seeing one another far too often. He agreed and was impressed that the V6 had more than enough hp, especially after I listed my mods to him. He made sure I had no other problems before they rolled.

The other driver was trying to argue with me and started taking his own camera phone pics. I told him I'd wait until he was done. After he got in his truck, we motored off and I called up my insurance company. An adjuster will be out within 2 days. My bodyshop is already putting a GT bumper on next week, preparing the cars for duals (waiting at another shop), so they can just do two jobs at the same time now.

The ding is minor; you can only catch it an an angle, but my eye goes straight to these things... especially with a jacked up monster sitting right next to it.

So, there's my story for the night... happy birthday to me!

Same thing happened to me... except mine was at a mall.. and I was the dumb @$$ person to park next to a handicap spot...

An "older person" of very "low" knowledge, hit his steel door into my car driver's side... bigger ding though.. but just a door ding.. so easy repair.. if I ever fix it

But I didn't do what you did.. cause I didn't notice it at the time, I got home and shut the door, locked it, and took an inspection... I WAS PISSED so now I know to look at my car everytime I park and leave....

and my car is black
so it shows
and that old fart
can go to hell
in his steel cadi
(venting)

oh well
I'm a young driver, more is along the way

P.M. me telling me how that GT bumber goes.. and I think we would all like to see it... I'm thinking about doing that and I want to make sure it looks good EVERYTIME haha..

Do you have the fog lights too???

~))-why in life do people always try to mess up things that are new and good-looking??-((~

Damn, that sucks. I'm very much like yourself, if it's even the slightest of imperfections, my mind zeros in on it and just won't let it go. Least you were able to get some insurance info.

I hope this serves as a word of warning to all new car owners- park in the most out of the way spot! Park next to a nice car; no SUVs or trucks or freakin' mini vans!
Or maybe we need those bumpers they use on the boats!

Could the guy have parked any closer. That is why I get plenty of exercise sometimes I park some where and start walking and then look back and thank of a potential hazzard like parking down stream of a cart storage.

Orion240... you desparately need to paint those callipers YELLOW!

I am lucky so far - haven't got a door ding yet.

One of my programmers came out to look at my car when bunch of us were standing around it on break chatting. He was carrying a bunch of nerd equipment.... We had the hood open... he leans forward and drags his crap across the fender... ALL the guys standing there yelled "HEY - Watch WTF your doing!".. . Hey was like "Duh - sorry bout that!".

Some people JUST don't get it!

I always ran right out and got every door ding on my BMW fixed immediately. Dent Wizard... 75 to 90 bucks a dent. But worth having a dentless car.

The truck certainly wasn't there when I parked... instead there was nice sedan with plenty of room. I think I press-a-dent service will get it out nicely, but the guy was a jerk so I'll take it to the bodyshop for a nice, fat estimate anyways and let insurance battle it out.

It was absolutely hilarious watching his girlfriend get back up into the truck. She needed an escalator or winch or something to help ease the entry (not that she was big... drunken, nice looking, if not a bit vaccant eyed blonde).

It's just the worst to find a ding and the responsible party is nowhere to be found. Happened to me, on the driver's side front fender, inches from the door, about 2 weeks have brought the Mustang home.... hasn't even received the plates yet.

I have 3 small but deep gashes on the front right quarter panel, It is through the clearcoat and it is upsetting, I still have to get it fixed, I just wish I knew how it happened. Something tells me it had to be a hasteful act with a ket chain. As if they just jabed it couple of times fairly hard.
