Default How to properly prepare my S197 for drag racing

so after damaging the stock gears in the stang at the track one night, (causing a slight whine), i decided to just go to 4:10's and install a diff girdle support cover from moser. i allready have lca's and relo brackets, but i was wondering if anybody had some pointers on what needs to be "beefed up" to prevent things getting damaged or broken when launching hard at the drags on sticky tires.

thanks -

The damaged probably did not happen during launch, it mostly happened during burnout. Makesure there plenty of water in the water box. The last time I damaged mine the drivers side tire did not get much if any water on it and it let go during burnout. Smoked the clutch pack, chipped spider gears and spun an axel. I could hear making all kinds of noise.
FYI: I am running DR's.

thanks sactown, thats good advice. now that i think about it, i never really make sure they are in there 100%.

but on another area of concern, is there any mechanical aspect that needs attention? i have allready done the diff girdle support cover, and i wanted to know if there is anything else like that i need to do before i go racing again.
