Default 2009 Mustang

Ok guys, I finally stopped by the dealership to check out a silver 2009 Mustang GT with premium and appearance package, 3.55 axle, heated leather and glass roof. I really want a 2010 in black or gray, but had a feeling it was going to be too expensive and thought I'd see what kind of deal I could get on the 09. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised, much nicer car than I thought it would be. It drove very nice and absorbed the bumps better than my Sentra and the seats were very comfortable (no need for a seat cushion like I need in my Spec-V). The shifter was smooth and clutch very light which I got used to quickly. It did'nt have quite the pickup I thought it would have, but then again only gunned it a couple times with the sales guy in the car and looked down and was doing 90 in 4th. Very quiet with the windows up (almost too quiet). Did'nt seem as quick as the G8 I drove a couple months ago, but probably would have to get used to the gearing. I was worried that coming from a 6-speed to a 5 it would be lacking, but it revs lower than my Nissan in 4th at 60 than my car does in 6th. Anyway, I think I could "settle" for a 2009, but it was time to crunch the numbers, which did'nt look good. It stickered for 33,635 and have a 4.5k discount. I asked about the additional 2.5k dealer discount I saw in the paper last week and they did'nt know anything about it and I did'nt save the paper. But they did knock 2k off for a-plan and 2k for my trade in, so I was looking at just over 26k to finance at 1.9%. For some reason the numbers don't make sense to me as he said the best they could do was about 450/m for 72 months. I was hoping for lower 300's, but knew it would be a tall order, but was willing to go maybe mid-300's. What do you guys think, should'nt 26k at 1.9% be in the upper 300's max? The dealer at the gm dealership tried to pull the same thing on me and I just walked out. They were'nt pushy at all though and asked if I could go with a base 2009 GT that might put me under 400. I told them to look into it, but if I can't at least get the premium package in a 09, I might as well wait. I really wanted a 2010 and it looks like even a base GT will be too expensive, but maybe in 6 months or a year I'll have my car about paid off and maybe have a better paying job by then...

I live here in the detroit area. Just hold out for a bit and the deals will come. They are still trying to unload 09's and some brand new
08's here. You will find a deal in months too come. If you can hold out for 6 more you will get a sweet deal!

Yeah, that's what I thought. I thought the dealer would try to "haggle" a little more than he did, since other dealership seem to have bigger discounts, but guess he can only do what his boss allows. I'm sure they can come down more if it does'nt sell. Plus I could do without the glass roof and the hood scoop. I could also try to sell my Spec-V myself as I know its worth more than 5k with only 64k miles on it, but have nobody to drive me around until I get another car. btw, I punched in the numbers on an auto calculator (26325 at 1.9% for 72 months) and it spits out 387/m. Still a little more than I want to pay, but much better than 450. I just wonder where they come up with their numbers?

close to my home they had these 2 stangs. I don't know what type of edition. They started out at 40 k .. they had some sort of problems and the company that " dressed them up " would not take them back. they are now sitting for sale at 23k .. they are 08's
So just like grabberGT said, give it time. I've seen a Vapor GT500 go from 46k to 39 k at the same dealership untill it got sold. But that one, was just the color. I guess no one wanted a rat color.

( Vapor guys, I'm no t flaming your stangs )
