Might be the dreaded engine torquing over too much and with the way the trans connects to the shifter and its mounting location on the trans causing the need for motor mounts or CHE K member brace with TQ limiters.......or just need some more practice!

So this happens at WOT right? IF so its time for a simple mod....either the motor mounts or the TQ limiters....most dont need both.

SO were you having this issue with Wide Open Throttle (WOT)? Reason why I ask as it apparantly is a design overlook with the S197 that requires for some (like myself) stiffer motor mounts or torque limiters for shifting that is harder when going from first to second at WOT. Not saying anything is wrong with the car as nothing was wrong with mine either but felt the mod was necessary for better and faster shifts when the car's motor is under a load like going WOT

Which would you get first limiters or mounts?

I like the limiters just cause I like the appeal of the extra brace. Also, the reinforcement comes near the shifter so there is less flex closer to the position you need it.

Also, to the OP. Do you have some you trust that has driven standard a lot and you can go for a ride with them? Someone that will just drive it and not beat on it so you can see clearly if it is your driving or if it is something flexing more then you want. That would be a easy way to see what it is. Also you can pick there brain about what specifically your doing wrong (if anything.) Hard to critique your driving over the interned.
