Crap... Jacked in the wrong spot
**** that sucks.
my friend was changing the oil on his hot neighbour's mercury cougar last summer and the jack slipped while the car was on it and went straight into the oil pan. the oil leaked all over his driveway. worst blooper ever, especially while trying to act cool for his neighbour hahah

yeah man. all the oil i nthe car just poured out. we were waiting for him to finish a half hour job so we can go bowling or something, and when this happened, we were all like "......" and he jsut said you better leave. we drove by later and his neighbour was sitting there crying. and he was trying to do soemthign about it. they trekked all friday night to find an oil pan and fixed it by 6am or something.
Because you can bust the seal on the differential cover if you aren't careful. That's the main issue. Some people claim you can introduce a bend into the axle as well.
FWIW people have jacked up rear ends by the pumpkin for years and if you're careful you should be fine.

It's pretty commonplace. I know with my car you could tell that someone had jacked it up by the diff just by looking at the cover. It was slightly pinched. Not enough to leak but you could tell someone had jacked from that point and not as carefully as they should have. If done properly you should never pinch the cover.
This isn't to say that if I had easy access to a lift that I wouldn't do it that way instead.

Well there is no mechanism on the fuel filter. It's more likely you put pressure on the connector causing it to leak. As long as no lines were punctured, it shouldn't leak further. The connectors have a simple o-ring that makes the seal, if you were to bend it enough at the connection it would allow pressurized fuel to leak past the o-ring.
Search 'mustang jacking points' or just plain ol 'pumpkin' in the S197
section and you can read all the posts for yourself....
And here is why you dont use red loc-tite on the oil drain plug...
Car manufacturer won't advise it because the jack could slip and hurt the car, or yourself.
They don't want to get sued in the process, so they can't advertise this.
If you're on a flat, hard surface, like in someone's garage and you are not deprived of common sense, it's a safe deal. Chalk the front tires first.
It's been done for years (a full Century now) and it will continue.
And lastly, IT WILL NOT BEND THE AXLE OR ITS HOUSING!!!! in case you were wondering.
All my cars/trucks drive in a straight line.

If you're not comfortable with the idea, then don't do it
