I received a set of MAC Boomtubes as a birthday present and swapped out the FRPP Borlas last night between rain showers. I was originally going to use the stock clamps, but went with the one's provided in the kit. Had a hard time getting the stock clamps over the new pipes. Started it up and, wow, pretty impressive. It definitely has a throatier tone to it. The passenger pipe hung lower that the drivers-side, which drove me crazy.
Went to Midas this morning, and they tightened the clamps and readjusted the tips. They inserted a piece of rubber within the hangar bracket to raise the tips. Total charge was $5.00, I gave him a $15 tip. It was worth it to me.
I'm very impressed witht the boomtubes, highly recommended if you're looking for an axleback system!
I'll sell ya one cheap haha. But really pm me. So you like them over the borla's?
The Borlas were great, but these are very different, they sound more agressive with a throatier tone. I REALLY like the sound, can't wait to drive home tonight.
Congrats! The only bad thing I've heard about Boomtubes is that they mellow out over time and that some people compare the sound to a dump truck. But, if you like it, who cares.
