You could just get some stronger 31 spline axles. Then get some carbon clutches to put into your diff. Not sure if you are planning on doing it yourself or not but its not too hard.

I would also look at getting a clutch.

Other than that everything else should hold.

Aren't you a mustang expert????

jkjk....New Posi, New axles, 1 piece DS, New clutch. The 8.8 is pretty tough from the factory. A fully built 8.8 with some simple addons can handle serious horsepower

Get rid of the 2 piece d/s, 1 piece AL gives you 800HP not sure you need to do anything else to secure 500. Make sure you install some loops while your at it.

The driveshaft is the weak point, the mustang drivetrain is extremely strong, it's taken from a truck i would assume and it was cheaper to leave it strong than make a new rear end, engineering is a very expensive resource. The 7.5 rear end was too weak so that's how it worked.

I'm following this thread because I was thinking about the same thing as the OP. I plan to get boosted by the end of the year. Gonna go with the Procharger P-1SC-1 kit or maybe the Saleen Super Shaker. I know the two are totally different in boost characteristics but I'm still debating. Can the stock drivetrain handle the instant boost of the Saleen?
