How's Steeda?
While mine has never done that, I can totally see how that could happen.
I don't know if this is true for the non carbon fiber elbows, but I have the CF one and the part that goes to the hose on the TB is a little tapered. Plus the whole thing is smooth and kinda slick. So slick + tapered = slipping off. But, I make sure and have the clamp tight as I can and I've never had a problem. I've had the Steeda CAI since late last year to early this year and I've had to take it off several times for various things. No issues yet.
I really love the Steeda CAI though. I like how it looks and the carbon fiber elbow is really cool looking. I've had several compliments on it. It's a very well made piece.
Ok, I just ordered some steeda shifter bushings. I've always thought there was a bit of slop in the stock shifter. I'm a big spender! lol. I need to pay off some other expenses, then it's time to buy some Mustang stuff.
Some of their design choices kind of bother me. Their panhard bar requires you to take it off, then make adjustments, then rinse and repeat rather than say BMR whose panhard can be adjusted when mounted in place. Their shifter is kinda notchy with no all too short of a throw. I have heard of their CAI slipping off the throttle body which doesn't seem to happen to the other CAIs. They are good parts from what I have seen, but they don't seem to be the best parts IMO.
The Steeda CAI is one of the best on the market.....right up there with C&L and JLT. I have no problems with mine. Perhaps those people that supposedly had slippage should have torqued the nuts and bolts (actually hose clamps) tighter. Only problem I've heard of is the carbon fiber elbow cracking from the heat.
Only minor complaint I have is the popping sound from the Steeda strut mounts/BMR springs/d-spec struts. Sounds just like the old popping sound before Ford fixed the issue by replacing the mounts.
Love my Steeda tri-ax. While it is not that short, it is nearly impossible to miss a gear, which was what I was looking for. I like a notchy shifter because it lets you know where you're at, if that makes sense.
