Default Does synthetic motor oil require tune?

This may be a stupid question, but I thought I would ask anyways. Does synthetic motor oil require tune?

Also, I am having the car brought in tomorrow for the TSB for the strut issue and a clanking/spitting sound from under the car. Is there anything else I should say to the dealership? I was thinking synthetic motor oil, but want feedback first. And yes, I have looked through the posts regarding the synthetic and want to hear thoughts once more.

No.........

But I'd wait till it has at least 5000 miles on it if it doesn't already.

No tune needed for syn oil.

I did my first change at 2500 miles (used 5W-20 Castrol Syntec), and I plan on changing every 2500 miles. I run my pony hard, so this is cheap insurance.

Don:

Are you changing the oil and filter yourself? If so, what filter did you use?

Thanks.

Upon someone's advice (a mechanic of all people), I changed to the 5W-20 Castrol Syntec at 1200 miles. Please do not tell me I've been a bad Mister Roper.

No... there is a quickie-type place by my office and I just get it done while I'm having lunch at the restaurant next door. Been using them for years. If I waited until I got around to it, the oil would never get changed. lol I enjoy doing mods and such myself, but routine maintenance is boring. It's like projects around the house. I like doing improvement type projects, but I hate fixing something that is broke.

I think you are fine, assuming a mechanic I know told me the same info. I changed out my oil around 1500 miles as well with Mobil1 Synthetic and I was pretty sure (at least at the time) that I could notice a difference. Anyhow, I don't see the harm in replacing the factory oil that probably had small amounts of factory crap in it as well.

Just to clarify, I wasnt recommending you wail till 5000 miles before your first oil change, you should have changed it at least twice by then, after that go to synthetic. I like to be sure its well broken in before going to synthetic. 2500 is fine, I wait till 5000 to make it easier to remember to do it every 5000.

Purolator Pure One (PL24651) is one of the best filter you can get. $5.88 at advance auto parts.
