Inquiring minds would like to know!
Not everyone stuffs those things full, and you don't always have your keys on you when your working on the car, or I don't anyways. I actually had a situation a few weeks ago were I had unlocked the car at the grocery store, put everything in the trunk - including my keys. If it weren't for the button I would have been SOL as I was on vacation 12 hours away.

Ever pop your trunk while at speed??
its not pretty....

Its currently not doable as the RKE does not work
as a trunk release at speed....

But your ever so carefully placed button could pop her at speed.....
Glove box or no box for switch location. OEM style or no style for me....

Has anyone tested the add on trunk release buttons to see if they will open at speed?

In newer GM cars the trunk button is disabled at speed by the computer.

The Smart Junction Box in the Mustang apparently disables the RKE button at speed.

So is it possible to wire a trunk release button so as to send a pulse to the SJB that would allow the release to work when stopped yet disable the trunk release at speed?

Anyone found the magic wire to tap into?

Just press the unlock button twice within 2 seconds and the passengers side door will unlock...
Its all laid out in MY Owners Manual. Maybe your stang is different than all the rest??

There is no such magic wire or I would found it by now...
I have the whole S197s electrical system under my belt
and can pull connector #s out of my head at will...
Its almost scary how much info I have soaked up....

I meant to say, when "I don't have the DAMN fob in MY pocket" and my passenger side is locked.
I would like both doors to open on the first click.
The way the car is parked in my garage, the pass. side door is the closest and the driver side is a tight trip with the garage door down...
I like to put bills or paper work, that I might need the next day, on the passenger seat so I don't forget them in the morning.
Since I can never be too sure if that side is unlock or not, I like both doors to open on one click for that reason.
It's the same thing with my F150 anyway...

Oh and yes, my car is different than all the rest... just look at it.

I was afraid of that! Guess I'll just keep using the RKE. Thanks for your reply.

what could happen at high speed? with the shocks on the trunk lid,its not like it flys open, even with it in the driveway you still have to pull up on the trunk lid to get it to open. plus if the trunk did open the downforce would keep it almost shut.

i put the button in my glovebox, off the same wire i used for my alarm, ive used it twice in the last 2 years,i still always use my alarm to pop it.

Amen! Me too! My old GTP it was settable to open with 2 clicks like the Mustang or you could set it to open all doors with one push, I look for days in the manual for this feature guess not.
