top00cat, i believe what you are describing
is the release bearing on the slave cylinder
rattling up against the pressure plate fingers
at idle.

this is perfectly normal and has been discussed
on another forum, where many have said they
have it too.

you can play with your idle and you may find a sweet spot,
i just live with it because i like my 750 rpm and don't
want to raise it just for a little noise.

yeah i raised it to 850 and didnt hear it. To be honest as long as nothing is wrong with it i am going to drop it back down to 750. you are the cam master by the way haha

i got used to the noise and it doesn't bother
me anymore. i don't think the bearing rattling
on the diaphram is going to do any harm
what so ever.

welcome to the cam crew top00cat

WOAH!!!!

Old thread but this is the sound I was describing and everyone said it was NOT normal!

I took it to the dealership and they checked my tranny out and I had a tooth missing from the sync block ring and also had some more wear including the bearing. This was a week after install of the cams.

The mechanic thought that noise from the tranny was NOT normal and that is how we first got on the road to finding this stuff wrong with the tranny.

The car was driving fine.
hammeron I think you read that thread I posted about this. It also had a video in it.
Did I just get lucky with the sound and they happen to find the tranny probs? Or is it in fact something that is NOT normal with the Hot Rod cams...
I don't get this.

Here's the link to the thread I made.

Bump for more info.
I actually got all the work done on my car and got it back.
Guess what? The knocking is still there BUT it is ALOT less prominent.
Not nearly as loud.
Again I got an aftermarket clutch and flywheel too (dunno if this could make the sound less).
I wonder if my parts being worn could have caused it to be louder than it usually is on most of
our Mustangs with the Hot Rods.

I am going to have my guy check it out one more time after this weekend.
He is a great guy

smoke i listened to your vid and the loud knocking did not sound good. it was good that the dealership found and fixed that problem.

the subtle rattling you now hear at idle, is normal.

Cool man.
Like I said I can hear still a slight knock if I get under the car too.

You still think that is normal?
My girl has my video recorder so I can't post one now.
But like I said I think it may still be the same knock but just not nearly to the same degree.
