Cams & Blower - Good Combo's?

Cams & Blower - Good Combo's?
In about 1 yr I will be doing a blower at 8 PSI for sure.
I saw a video last week with a S197 with the Big ***** Thumper Cams...wicked. Reminded me so much of my old 383 stroker and a old camm'd 351 I had. fell in love.
So do the 2 mix? I want that aggressive loping idle...and the whine when I feel frisky.
Narrowed it down to the E-Force or the Roush.

I'm pretty wrench handy, and tearing apart the mod motor isn't a big deal for me. I tore my 2006 5.4 3v apart for the RoushCharger install (extremely easy BTW), so I think I'm up for a cam swap.
just looking to see if I have a good or stupid idea. I know you are supposed to pair Turbo's with Cams...so it makes sense to do the same with a blower

I looked into this for a bit and decided to not do cams, at least for now.
First off, it will work. Second, really rough-idling cams are highly inefficient with forced injection. It will sound cool. It will work. But the car won't get powered by the cam as it should.
They make cams for superchargers, but the idle isn't as rough or noticeable as with ***** thumpr or hot rod cams.
That said, Rob Simons who was the principle engineer behind the E-Force recommends ordinary (not blower grind) Stage II Comp Camps for the E-Force. Not sure why. But I would trust his opinion.

thanks.
I'm after the noise of a cam, but not necessarily the performance benefits. I figure the blower is all the extra HP I'll need....once I add the blower, I'm only after 420-450 RWHP. And to be honest, that much is on the edge of my comfort factor for a DD.
Car is already extremely fun with 315 crank HP.

Tylus, i see what you want to do, i understand
it, i did it.
the only thing i would add to what shanec
said (+1) is, just make sure that you have
a local dyno tuner who has lots of experience
with tuning FI mustangs. if you don't have
someone like this, you may regret putting
in the cams.

Both the FRPP Hot Rod and Thumpr cams still give the advertised gains with a S/C'er. Sure there are FI cams that will gain more, but you'll still get a nice increase in power plus that sound.
Gone are the days of losing power with a N/A cam and FI.

As far as I understand roots and twin screw superchargers arent as good with cams because they like a steady idle. Centris on the other hand seem to like it. I have a friend with a vortech with a comp cam thats set up with a blow through maf and it idles with a fairly heavy lope and it sounds awesome. The car has a ton of power and revs fast. I think he is running around 10psi and around 500hp to the wheels with everything.
This is on a 2v with forged internals though so I figure the 3v would probably be a little different.

btw, would you do it again? Cams are a bit of work, but it would be worth it IMO for that nice loping idle
I've done alot of car mods over the years, and some are instant repeats for the new vehicle....and some are the ones I regret hugely. My last RoushCharger was a huge ++++.

i see cams in your future......
you wouldn't happen to have a video of the cam lope would you?
yep, just happen to....

btw, would you do it again?
YES i would, i love my car the way it is. the ONLY
issue i could live without is that it's cold blooded
in cooler weather and i have to be patient and
let it warm up more before heading out....

damn that brings back some memories...yeah, I can see some CAMs in the future as well.
too bad they'll void the warranty...oh well, can't have everything I guess. As long as the warranty is good for the electronics I'll be good. If I were to ever blow the 4.6...I can so see it stroked to a 5.0
