Default Very Curious...

This is probably not the right room to even bring this up but this is the room most people are viewing. Im curious, im going to school for automotive technician. My father offered to buy me a brand new laptop and any program i might need for it. well, is there a program out there where i can take a car and digitaly tear it down piece by piece on the computer? Im talking 3 dimensional pictures with all measurments of everything on any car. If there is a program out there let me know. Thank you.

...before this gets banished to OT...

Yes there are, but unless you work in the design department for the actual car company, you will probably never get your hands on files with that much detail...

Such files would be in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or another common file format most likely

you dont think theres a copy out there somewhere for the general public? I know so many people who all think having something like that would be incrediable. If they dont have it out for the public they should, it would bring in a fortune to the company.

It is specifically not out there for the general public. Can you say "patented" loudly enough? ;-)

They want to make/sell accessories themselves if they can.
