Probably a dumb question, but I just can't seem to get it out of my head . . .
How did we manage to get so lazy or self-important that we won't walk out to the car, start it up with the key, get out, maybe lock it back up with either the fob or another key, and go back in the house for the same minute or two?

Nothing like being too drunk and/or lazy to get out of our cars (that we started remotely) to buy our alcohol and cancer sticks. We really are a sick, bored and conceited society.

Funny to come across this thread tonight. One year ago today, I posted about the day my '90 5.0 vert started up at Dodger Stadium without me in it, from an incorrectly installed remote starter: https://mustangforums.com/forum/5560351-post11.html
Do NOT bybass the clutch or NSS with a remote start. Someone (probably you) will eventually start the car in gear and it will go and run over anything in front of it with force.
This is not something you fudge.
On the other hand, It's fun to use, especially if it's cold/hot and you have the heat/ac kicked in. Good luck.

Yes, reed switches are affected by electrical field. It's a known affect in the Navy. been documented in Reactor Design, Ballistic Missles, Tomahawk Missles, and even Torpedoes.
Something as simple as a Walkie Talkie has caused problems before.
Will it happen? perhaps never.
Can it happen? certainly. it has happened before.
If you bother to read up on reed switches you'll see they have varying levels of sensitiviy and shielding. Your basic el cheapo switch is going to be one of the unshielded variety.

OK, a TURK or AB $109 shielded prox sensor if $$ is no matter....
VERY RELIABLE against faults.
Or even redundent cover safety rated shielded proximity sensors
with a force guided relay FTW.
Reeds are $0.39 and magnets are $5.
