I agree with Cutter... but I am partial to a stick as both the performance oriented cars I have owned were manual and all my DD's have been auto since my early 20s. I do have fun driving the 'Stang to and from work, but in all honesty, it would get old if I had to drive a stick every day. I briefly considered an auto when shopping for Mustang, but as soon as I drove the stick, I was sold

I would definitely find someone with a stick and test it out before making the call.

Autos allow you to play with your wife's breasts while you drive. Or hold a cup of coffee.

FTW.

stick removes my boredom factor

and I find myself driving with my hand on the shifter of my Expy. I miss the control of shifting the gears. even though it would be a PITA to shift gears in the wifes SUV.

QFT. Well after reading all these helpful posts, I think all that is left is to go try it out on a friends car. It is going to be my DD, and there are frequent stops. But I really want a manual car, but all these posts about convenience and such have me changing my plans. Ill post a pic so you guys can see what I end up getting.

Maybe you guys/gals can also help me out on what type of mods I should get and etc. Thanks again.

I can tell you this, maintenance has been far lower on the manuals I've owned over the years than the automatics.

On another note, I just discovered that not a single half-ton truck can be purchased with a manual transmission any more. My '95 F150 (Manual) is on it's last leg, and I was thinking about trading it in for a new truck, but when I started asking around, no one makes a manual 1/2 ton! The last manufacturer to make a half-ton manual was ford, and it was available in the 2008 single cab V6. Now I'm hunting for a low mileage 2008 V6 F150.

Another question for you guys...

Do you think that it is possible to talk in an Individual Seller into selling you his car, but not pay all cash upfront, and instead make payments?

the 4.10s/tune make the auto GT so much more fun to drive than stock, though at times I do miss driving an manual.. the only reason I didn't get one was because I get into way too much trouble driving a stick shift lol...

Anything is possible, but I wouldn't imagine an individual seller giving you that kind of trust. Capitalone.com has a blank check loan that you can use for used cars. You just apply for the loan and they send you a check with a maximum available amount.

How much interest do they charge you? Did you personally use that?

A local Credit Union will also finance a used car. Check rates online.

If you want a stick, you want a stick. Its more emotional than practical. For me, I love a convertible with a stick. Does it always make sense? No. But its what I enjoy. For you, the issues might be different...
