Automatic or Manual?
There are some other reasons to go for a manual that I did not read about here. Its also about having 3.55 limited slip or 3.73 with a track pack versus, 3.31 open for the auto. Plus there is plenty of torque to stay in third for all but when traffic is stopped or over 70 mph, so third is your "auto". You cannot do that in a SVT Focus, Civic Si, GTI or other small displacement cars. I love the manual in our cars, especially with a FRPP shifter.
I had ordered two diffrent mustangs in automatic when I was getting my stang. And in the end, I knew I would never really completely enjoy them. The thought of driving manual scared the hell outta me and it was something that I thought would be super hard. When I purchased my 2008, I couldnt even drive it off of the lot, my dad did it. The next night, we went out to a huge lot and just tried and tried till it clicked. I drove the whole way home that night without stalling and I have been loving my stang every since
Nick---^^^^^ where was that sig pic taken? Downtown Canton? Royal Oak? Or Vegas!?...just curious.....thanks....looks like no cruising this week...maybe next week. I got out for about an hour in the evening when we hit near 70 (wed?) but the clouds above made for a not as fun drive cause I was worried it would rain on the car for the first time. Anyway I will keep in touch
I went to test drive the 2010 GT auto and had my hubs test drive the manual. I've never owned a manual in my life (I'm 37) nor did I know how to drive one (I knew the concept) and my hubs was a little rusty because he hadn't driven one in years. I wanted to learn how to drive a manual cause it seemed more fun to drive especially a GT. I also own a '05 V6 but in auto. I actually found it hard to take home a V8 auto so I talked myself into buying the manual. If I didn't buy the manual, I actually wasn't going to get one at all. My hubs left it up to me.
I enjoy driving a manual now. I'm still not as good as I think I should be, but I mostly drive it to and from work and sometimes out to lunch. Mostly highway driving and that's probably why I'm not as good was I want to be. My hubs did mention a couple of times that I do drive a manual better than he does. LOL.
I bought the car August 27th and started driving it that night. and yes, I stalled multiple times. What helped me, was trying it on a flat surface with the no-gas method and learning the catch point of the clutch. The gas pedal is so soft that I seem to always give it more gas than I'm suppose to. And because I think I'm giving it too much gas when I'm not really giving it any gas at all.. I end up stalling.. lol.
I actually still get nervous driving in heavy traffic, because of my confidence level, but what gets me nervous most is starting off on an incline. It just takes practice. I'm getting it. It's taking me a little longer due to confidence and because I don't drive it as much even though it's a daily driver. I have about 2600 miles on it right now.
One of my co-workers said it took his son about 3 months before he was actually confident and proficient. ^_^ so I guess it just depends on the learner.
Good luck in whatever you decide. Having a Mustang is fun all in itself, but I think in manual it's 100 times more fun.
my vote is defantely for a manual trans all the way! loud exhaust is very very fun with a manual trans as well! when i drive a automatic vehicle i find myself sleeping , so sometimes ill acutally just auto shift the damn thing myself!

get the manual. i live in chicago and have a manual gt and its not that bad. sure it sucks sometimes but the pro's out weigh the cons. get winter tires and throw some salt or sand bags in the trunk if you will be driving a lot in the winter.
I hate to see someone so enthusiastic about the mustang not have one. Keep your chin up......we'll be seeing you in one soon.
Thanks man! I really hope so. Seeing all these mods that you guys do also makes me want to learn so much more about cars and knowing how to do all of this myself. Are there any good careers and such that can come from knowing mechanics I want to do something I love but also be able to live off of it to you know?
