this appears to be what I see and read most of the time.

I have a buddy that does alot of interstate driving, lives in NW GA and works in downtown Atlanta. He has an automatic Mustang GT and originally went with 4.10's. Fortunately, and I do say fortunately, they were not set-up correctly and he ended up needing new gears.....he ended up changing to 3.73's and is much happier. Seems to be the perfect balance, quicker response than the 3.31's that came in the car and great on the highway.

If I didn't have so much highway I'd get 4.10s for my auto. But my drive one way is 50 miles and 50% if not a little more is highway at 70+. 4.10's would put my RPM at 70 MPH just a hair under 2700 (compared to my current ~2100 w/ 3.31). That's a MPG killer big time for no good reason plus with my exhaust it would be way too loud. Although my current 2K (a tad over actually) is almost as loud anyway since that's the typical "drone" range.

4.10 for drag racing.

3.73 for road racing.

People who are worried about 4.10 being a bit on the short side can always put a larger tire in back.

I've had a hard time finding a good selection of tires that's around 28-28.5 inches in diameter. I find A LOT more in ~27 inch area which is stock diameter.

I'd do the 4.10s. I sort of regret doing 3.73s in mine, but the change wouldn't be worth the labor at this point for me. The difference between the 3.31s and 3.73s wasn't that big. I was fearing it would have been too much with the 4.10s, but I don't think so now.

If you have 3.55's now there is no question you should go to 4.10's. The jump from 3.55 to 3.73 is hardly noticable.

Yeah there's generally about a 200 rpm difference between 3.73 and 4.10 from my calculations I've done in the past.

If people say they love their 4.10's and they have a manual, I feel good knowing that I should feel pretty much the same with 3.73s w/ auto.
