had my local dealer who is also a FRPP dealer install 3.73 gears into my '07 5 speed. the noise coming from the rear isn't a typical gear whine like I have heard before, I would liken the noise to the sound of an electric motor type of sound, its not that loud however its still there, my car has stock exhaust so its doesn't have much of an exhaust note to cover it up.

I have about 100 miles on the gear install and 3 heat cycles, will a noise like this go away with some more breakin or should I complain about it??

I would take back to the installer. Probably won't go away.
Is it a constant noise? Coast whine? Drive whine?
Could be a bearing or gears or even low fluid etc.......

Edit: could even be that little plastic POS dust shield at the front of the differential housing.....

no its a constant sound that does not change with power applied or let off, it also has a squeek that only comes in under power, sounds almost like a brake pad that is running on the metal tab, the sound is pretty faint, you can't hear it over about 50 mph
