Default Convertible Top Problem

So have any other convertible owners been having problems with their tops going up lopsided or lining up or anything? Since day 1 my drivers side has gone up a little faster to start off with (after inital repairs done to fix passenger side) then the sides even out and I can get to latch with a little muscle. Today I had to get my husband to manually pull the passenger side up and then the arms wouldn't flatten out so he had to push up on the bottom of the arms at the joint to get the top to latch!!! Am getting sick and tired of this friggin problem and wanted to see if anyone else having similar issues...

I have NOT had a problem, but I think YOU do. Call your dealer and get him to FIX IT! Thats a problem that HAS to be fixed...

the roof keeps the rain out of the inside... thats important..

it might help to know when your car was built; ford had quality issues with the verts, similar to what you are describing. this spring; could be you have that problem and need to take it to the dealer; mine was built in june and i have no problems; however, i have only put it up 3 times when washing the car.

it wouldn't hurt to lube all pivot points if you haven't already. also when you lower the top hold the switch a little longer to ensure the top is down tight. this helps keep it from jiggling up and down, while a pain in the butt the tonneau cover helps secure the top too. put a little extra switch time when raising the top to to make everything a little tighter.

My top only gives me problems when it is "cool" when I put it up. But even then it works fine with a little persuading.

You definately have a problem. if the dealership isn't fixing it.. call Ford Customer service and tell them you want them to tell you where you can get it fixed.

Do you by any chance have a TSB # or anything else I can reference. I don't know if you saw my previous post under "Problems with your Mustang" but I have had nothing but with my dealer. Once they had my money, they didn't care about me anymore..... It's been a nightmare!

I have not had that problem. Mine is an April build.

Ford definitely needs to fix it.

Yup, sounds like an issue specific to your car. I use my top a LOT, and haven't had any problems putting it up or down.

So now my freaking dealership isn't returning my calls! I called and the Service Manager was supposed to call me back, that was 5 hours ago! I can see how important I am to them!

IF THERE IS ANYONE IN EDMONTON, CANADA READING THIS, DO NOT BUY/GET SERVICED AT KENTWOOD FORD OR TEAM FORD!!!!

Sounds to me like you need to start working your way up the food chain. Get the name of the regional manager, and work your way up. You'll get results.
