Auto's O/D is actually .75. I've done some mph/rpm calculations with both, did some driving and found that it has to be .75 from what I've observed.

WOW!!! Thanks alot for the input guys!!!

I didnt think the pony had that kind of speed in her. The fastest I had ever gone on a car before that was 156 in a turbo VW I used to have. The funny thing is, I was scared to death in the VW at 158, but felt completely safe in the Stang doing 175. The stang really held the road well, didnt get floaty or loose. Not sure if I would have the testicular fortitude to go any faster though.

Thanks again very much for the information, much appreciated!!!

Probably 168 mph. I think they are W speed rated.

The calculations begin to lose accuracy at some point (i'm guessing above 140 MPH) due to drag. With my 3.55's, MT and 275/40/18 tires, the calcs show my top speed at redline over 200 MPH. I suspect the OP was able to hit 6 grand in 5th with his 4.10's and blower but, due to drag, was probably pushing into the 160's. Regardless, that's still darned impressive. Top speed on a bone stock GT has been reported to be in the 140's.

Stock tires are 97W, the W gives the speed rating at 168.

Not sure how drag factors into the equation. If the engine is turning a given speed, and the clutch is not slipping, then the drivetrain is turning the wheels at a given rate based on the gearing. Unless the tires are slipping, you have a set speed.

As I stated, the calcs show my top speed as 205 MPH at 6250 RPM. I'll never get there, that's for sure. I've never topped out my Stang (highest I had her was about 125-130 and she still had plenty left) but the expectation is that I'll hit roughly 145-150 MPH at around 4200-4500 RPM in 5th and that's it. Drag takes over at this point and, w/o additional HP to push me faster, I'm done.

Although I'm surprised to hear that the OP was able to redline in 5th, I'm glad to hear it. IMO, that's another thumbs up for 4.10's.

both are correct...

Nuke is looking at the theoretical implications
and d_ames is looking at it from a purely
mechanical construct.
