Default Exhaust question

question... again new to mustangs, new to this forum.

i just put on a pair of Pypes Violators exhaust on my 2008 mustang gt/cs. when the car is cold, and i start it up, it gives off a mean nasty growl. i love it given that i used to drive a bmw. however, if i rev the car at this point in time, it gives off loud pops. one after another... my wife asked me 'what the hell was that?' and i didn't have an answer. figured you people would. it didn't do this w/ the stock exhaust. however, after the car has warmed up, that popping stops.

anyway, thanks for your help. just one of those curiosity things.

Do not rev a cold engine. You are asking for premature engine wear.

It is caused by unburnt fuel igniting in the exhaust. When you first start the car it runs quite rich.

just let it warm up for at least 45 seconds until the rpm's settle, then drive.
but i like the popping, it's like the sound of a bull snorting before it gores somebody. lol.
