If 5w30 works for you I see no point in changing it. It wont hurt to go to 5w20....thats what I have been using since the first oil change -Mobil 1 5w20 full syn

5W30, even if you're in PA, is fine. Mileage shouldn't drive you to a lighter weight oil. If anything, years ago, most people would step UP in weight in older engines due to clearances going bad in order to reduce oil seepage/loss.

If I had known how many people use blends or full syns and change their oil at anything less than 7,000 miles I'd have bought stock in the major synthetic oil suppliers years ago. I'd be rich thanks to peeps like you!

I'm gonna say no to changing weight as well. We've had a couple of those 4.0s go well over 200,000 using the recommended oil (and conventional oil at that) at drain intervals closer to 5K or 7K. And that was in a van that was frequently hauling and towing, and running cross country. You'll be fine.

Exactly. If Ford calls for that, then keep that grade.

Keep using what you've been using.
