Pumpkin Jackers Beware

Yep, they were cool. It was black with gold leather interior, 5spd, had the little faux heat extrators in the hood ala todays gt500 and I cleaned and polished that thing daily!! I know every inch of those original 82-84 alloys they put on the pony cars cause I swabbed every bit of brake dust off them every single day lol. A driveline shop back in my hometown of baton rouge repaired the rearend and I was back on the road that week.
Traded her in for one of these a year later:
The first fuel injected stang, a TBI injection. It sucked...

The guy I sold my FRPP cams to had done the same, primered and painted his rear axle. It looked really, really good up on the lift. A nice layer of rust protects the metal right? That's my excuse .
I need to take a weekend and prep/paint mine too. It looks GREAT.

I swapped out my Bullitts and put the originals back on tonight for winter driving. I thought about using the pumpkin but decided against it.
But I have to admit...I have been known to jack a pumpkin or two in the past.

Yup.. anyone can jack up anything.. Started seeing oil spots on the bricks again and thought I bent the cover for a 2nd time... Bought an awesome Ford Racing cast aluminum cover... but pumpkin jacking wasn't my problem.. it was the pinion seal..
Replacing the pinion seal SUCKS!!!!! Buddy had a lift.. count the threads on the pinion, and mark the nut position.. spend $6 for a new seal.. spend 1/2 day getting to it.. and no leaks...
Considering I've put 50,000 pissed off teenager miles on the Stang.. and this is the ONLY thing that's not gas, tires or oil... no problems..
On top if it.. the new cover is down right sexy!!!!!!
