New Mustang Owner, Must have's
Defensive? Just a little, especially when I get a response like the one I did from Wilkinda (and others). I am being attacked by several people for asking a simple question. And considering Wilkinda is a moderator, that makes it even more disturbing. I see no point with bothering to explain why I was interested in the Boss decal at this point.
Wilkinda, I too am retired - I was an AZ State Trooper for 21 years and am still serving our country as an Army reservist for 31 years (I am a Chief Warrant Officer 4). I am also disabled as a result of that service. If you don't respect me as a fellow car enthusiast maybe we can find common ground with the military. Your response to my question was rude and inappropriate, particularly for a moderator. I know you think I was trying to bait FastDew over the Boss decal, I was not. Just curious. I don't care what people put on their cars when you get down to it, but I am a muscle car person.

I now have 500 miles on my new toy. It will be getting an oil change tomorrow. I will be using full synthetic for the change. There are many vehicles (Corvette, Mercedes, Audi, etc) that come factory filled with full synthetic.
On the break in method, I just drive it like I drive it. Yes, I drive fairly agressive, so I for sure have done some more than a few full throttle runs, burnies, red lines, etc already. But I have also driven like a gandma back and forth to work and driven both 50 and 90+ on the freeway for extended periods. I don't really think it matters much IMHO.
On the car care stuff, I think I will just bow and defer to AJ 68 on that
+1 on the dash cover. I am in the IE as well and the dash cover will help protect the dash in the hot sun out here.

FastDEW, sorry about all the turmoil regarding your decal with the Boss annotation. I was curious if you had some kind of special edition Mustang or something. As you can see, my wife's Mustang has Boss stripes on her car as well. Apparently, some people here seem to think I was calling you out about it. If you don't know, the original "Boss" Mustang was a special edition car produced in 1969 and 1970 with a 302 or a 429 (the 429 is extremely rare now). If you find yourself in a group of old school Mustang "purists", you will probably get some flack about having the Boss logo on your car, FYI. If you already knew this, sorry, don't mean to insult your intelligence.
AZ MSCL take a chill pill bud. Dont think Wilkinda was trying to jump you. More like trying to stear the ship away from having the poor guy get jumped all the time. Just because he wanted to go with the boss logo on his new paint job. My comment was also meant to point out, that it would be the "Purist." That would tend to get bent out of shape about it.. No offence was meant against you in particulare. Again, more about trying to head em off at the pass if you will..
Sorry if you took offence to my tone.. You still have the one up on me with two bad *** rides in the family..
And Yes I'm just a noob..
but I'm going to have one hell a fun time bieng one thats for sure!

I myself dive in head first to what I love, from 69 to about 2007 I was a dedicated biker, Harley this, Harley that, hell got so many jackets and things could have a small outlet, always had nice family type cars while had the bikes, but after my Toyota got totalled from behind was a good time to move on my Muscle car urge, wanted the a Challenger, like yours, but started thinking, I'm going to drive every day for work, want the power but need the MPG's too, plus at time Challenger was way over priced, then when I got the Mustang and went to my Dodge dealer, cause he sold me my new Caddy, he said I hate to tell you, but we took the price down from 45,000 to 28,000, I about fell over, but I love the Mustang, someday though I'm wanting to take 20,000 to a Mecum auction and get me a completely restore, like new Muscle car, I have seen plenty on there that looked like would go easy for 40,000 and they walked out paying 15,000, just got to hit it right.
I just traded my 2007 Black GT with 153,800 miles for a 10 Charcoal GT. That sweet 07 never gave me any trouble. Other than the battery going out at 90,000 and fuel and airfilters, the only thing I ever did was replace plugs at 80,000, pads at 75,000, and change oil (Mobile 1) every 7,000. The first time, I drove as easy as I could (ha ha) and changed at 3,500. That puppy drove nice, perfect idle, computer shows 25.5 mpg (80% of my driving is interstate.
Hope the 2010 is as trouble free. Oh--I also changed the trannie and rear end fluid and replaced with full synthetic at 90,000.
Great car!

I always buy through fleet sales and got my wife to do the same. When she decided she didn't like the Camaro SS she went for the Mustang GT. Her car was the "teaser" car at a local dealership, a fully loaded Premium. She got it through their fleet internet sales dept - sticker was $39,000, paid $31,000. I wasn't a big fan of the new Mustangs but since getting one, I love it, what a neat car! It's really fun to drive and is a lot faster than I thought it would be. I put a tune on it and it's even faster now. Wife wants to race me at a local track so we're looking forward to that (she's a muscle car fan too).
I too would really like to restore a car (probably an early 70s Cuda or a 69-70 Mustang Boss). Depending on how big of a job you're gonna do, I would try to have about $20,000 in addition to the purchase price for the restoration part, it gets to be a lot of money. Good luck with that, it's one of my dreams too. We have the Barrett/Jackson auctions here in Scottsdale every year and it kills me to see all those great cars that I can't afford. Like you said, some do go for a lot less than you'd expect, so one of these days I may give it a shot. A couple of years ago, I watched two very rich guys get into a bidding war over a 71 Cuda that was perfectly restored - it went for over a million! I doubt it was really worth over $200,000 but it caused Cuda's and like Mopars to jump astronomically in price for about a year.
Oh, Dreamer1, sorry about hijacking the thread.

Why do I care? Because this is a car forum, we ask questions and share information on car forums, I saw a "Boss" decal on a new Mustang, the term Boss carries some additional meaning over a regular Mustang, I'm curious, etc, etc. Don't you know anything about Mustangs? This your first one? Why are you so defensive? Why the hell can't I ask a question without a bunch of BS flames? Are there any mature adults on this forum? WTF?
I didn't flame you either, I simply asked why you care if it has "Boss" on it. As I stated , many after-market companies that customize cars have created their own "Boss" edition. So many people DO COME IN HERE and flame those that have added "Boss" or "Mach" or GT350 on their cars so yeah..I may be defensive for some of the members
