Hey all! My friend is looking at getting an 06-09 mustang gt... what are some basic mods? i read through three or four posts but diddnt really get the right info... hes wanting to keep the factory warrenty. so looking at, what... cold air intake, headers, cat back, TB, UDP, and tuner? what are the prefer brands for these cars? and what wideband do you all like to run? CAI/Tune
3.73 or 4.10 Gears

Supercharger
Turbocharger

Suspension/Springs
Rims/Tires

Exhaust
Headers

Body Kits - Hood, Louvres, Chins, Wings

Short Shifters
One Piece Driveshaft
Brakes

Under Drive Pulleys
Throttle Body

Etc. Etc. Depends on what you're looking for. Looks. Top End. Acceleration (Track). Handling (Autocross).

I'm sure the guys here who have actually modded their cars will chime in.

yeah he isnt going to track his car.. in to for the looks and just a little extra bump in power... prolly do just intake/tb/headers/exhaust/udp/sways... how does the factory comptuer react to intake/tb/exhaust? does it throw any codes? also, what tends to brake on this cars if there only around +50HP/TQ?

CAI is almost useless w/o a tune. Even some no-tune-required CAI's will throw a CEL. A good CAI & tune combo from the RIGHT tuner will add 20-25 or more RWHP.

LT headers will typically lose the cats and will require a tune. Gain is minimal but better than shorties. LT's also go well with cams which together yield nice RWHP gain, almost equivalent to the CAI & tune.

Neither cat backs or axle backs yield ANY gain, only sound. The stock exhaust flows well.

Aftermarket or FRPP TB on these NA'd engines are useless as the stock TB flows as well as the NA'd engine needs. The only gain is if you go FI or are heavily modded internally. And don't even THINK about a TB spacer.

UDP's are good for roughly 3-5 RWHP.

Brenspeed, Bama and Tillman are 3 of the best tuners. Don't sweat the brand of handheld as they all pretty much do the same thing. It's the quality of the written tune you buy that matters most. CAI is about 20% of the combo power add whereas the tune is about 80%. And all of the tune-required CAI's are equivalent in performance.

Other good choices: gears, aluminum DS, wider/lighter wheels, suspension mods

Everything is good for about 450 RWHP so he won't even come close unless he goes FI.

From what i hear a TB wont help much but intake, tune, headers, and gears will give you a nice bump in power.

Shouldnt have to worry about anything breaking. There are a few people pushing 500 HP on stock setups.

check out brenspeed.com and americanmuscle.com
both are good sites and you can find nearly anything you need between them

Will need a tune? Look up Brenspeed or Bamachips for options...CAI/Tune will give a noticeable difference...needs to decide if he is going n/a or force induction? Then come up with a recipe for the car and stick with it so he won't waste $$$ on pointless mods, for example getting a CAI when in the future he is planning on a blower...
