Default Brakes...

So my rotors are done. They have "sun spots" i believe my buddy told me. Anyway, I'm in the market for at least new rotors. My buddy suggest I get new break lines, and pads also. My biggest and only thing i have against my car is its breaks, I wish i had the money for a big break upgrade (but I dont). so now, I'm in college and I'm going pray that xmas will help me out here. Back to my point here, what do you guys suggest? what brands? etc

TY -John

PS- Money is limit and I have to buy a new posi soon (My spyder gears are chipped and chipping)

If you're going for SS braides lines, I recommend Russell lines. You can save a buck or two by getting rotors from newtakeoff. I got Centric rotors from Tire Rack, I like them a lot (not too horrible price wise). I have read a lot of good stuff about Hawk Ceramic pads (also from Tire Rack).

Taking your budget into consideration, Hawk HPS pads have gotten good reviews and are inexpensive. For rotors, I'd look into a set of OE replacement Brembos. They have enough meat that they won't warp on you and aren't too expensive. As much as I like SS brake lines, why do you need new lines? The car is an '06 and shouldn't NEED lines.

Unless your lines are flawed somehow, you shouldn't need them. If you are trying to do a poor mans brake upgrade however, you can likely get some results out of a "stage 1" or "stage 2" brake upgrade.

I don't know if Stoptech sells a kit for the Mustang specifically, but I'm sure someone does. The components of the kits are fairly universal from what I've seen, just the individual parts differ:

First they are called BRAKES!!! Not breaks!

Now...

You can get a set of 4 BAER crossed drilled and slotted for $300 from CDC or RPI Designs. RPI normally has discount codes posted or you can contact them for a new one.

Brake lines are not needed if you are trying to save a buck. But if you want them, then go with the RUSSELL lines as mentioned above. They are the best bang for the buck for the set of 4.

Pads; can't go wrong with the Hawk pads. Ceramic are the best and worth the extra money.

Of course this is all upgraded stuff. If you are trying to save a ton of money then I think newtakeoffs.com is the way to go. That will save you the most money.

Doing a little googling, do you have a website for CDC or RPI, are you saying, rotors from baer and pads from hawk, what is a set of 4 running for, all I'm finding are the whole sets, like $ 4,000, calipar and all? sorry real new to this area of car, I've always thought a car like the 2010, had the best set up.

Don't know what you mean about the 2010 having the best set up...

Anyways, here's the RPI link, they have the best price and 10% if you use TEN as a coupon code... http://www.rpidesigns.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=1481

Not sure if these work for the 2010... http://www.jegs.com/i/Russell/799/693380/10002/-1

I think americanmuscle.com has the Hawk Ceramic pads...

ok .....re-state, I would assume the 2010, with the upgrade they made by putting bigger rotors this year, thought these would be a upgrade from say...'08?

Umm, I am not a brake expert but I am pretty sure the 2005-2010 GT's all have the same size Rotor with only the Sixxer's having a smaller rotor.

As for turning. You can turn the stock rotor if you want. As for slotted I believe some shops will do it, but most won't, but I know people have done it.
