On the 05-09's, the CAI & tune added 20-25 or more REAL RWHP ...
Curious: What's the distinction between "REAL" RWHP and plain ole' RWHP, regardless of how it's picked up?

Is the "REAL" simply referring to getting rid of the asthmatic bronchial tube and box which come stock in our cars and placing an aftermarket CAI in place of it?

IMO the stock intake is a poor example of a cai when compared to some of the aftermarket ones. Adding a scoop and a snowflake is just a marketing scheme. It might be better than some stock intakes.
One thing no one has mentioned is the throttle response you gain from the intake and that the true benefits of a cai can't be seen on a Dyno.
Not all manufacturers HP claims are that far off. Comparing mine to C&L's shows their claims to be pretty close.

One is definately better than the other. You just need to decide if it is worth it too you.

Just my opinion.

I refer to RWHP numbers that have been reported by forum members from their dynos as "REAL" as opposed to those HP numbers that manufacturers toss around in their literature which typically are crank HP #'s (although they don't often state so) obtained under laboratory conditions.

Does anyone on this forum really believe that you'll see any of the gains advertised for a set of axlebacks? A TB spacer?

I had mine dyno'd and tuned with drop in k&n stock CAI and then bought a JLT for $400 got little bit HP, lost lower end torque but gained it at top, then stock cai is as good per a pro tuner that tunes stangs all day long, buy a k&n save your money.

OK....

The "REAL" equates with actual (measurable) gains.

The 'plain' RWHP numbers -- in the context of your post -- are (*cough*) advertising incentives, for the most part.

Do advertisers sometimes stretch their facts in order to produce the almighty buck? No answer needed.

I suppose this was what led to my confusion of the terms 'plain' v. 'real' RWHP -- I must have misplaced my "advertising" colored glasses.

Again I will say if you are only concerned with dyno numbers then stick with the stock intake. Although I know some pretty good and well known tuners I know they will tell you to dump the stock set-up and get a real CAI.
