You never know how long people have been around. I've been around for 50 years.

I think I'll locate my button in the console like BBR does.
My situation was the same as yours when I installed my trunk release button two days ago. I tried to get the button from my local dealership so I wouldn't have to wait for it but their price was outrageous so I ended up going to a local salvage yard where it was given to me for no cost. I then mounted it in the console like BBR's.

I rarely find what I want when I use the search. It always gives me tons of threads that are totally not what I searched for. :/

Default Trunk Release Update

I received my button kit from Silver Horse Racing. It's a nice kit, but be aware, the button look has been changed. It is no more the nice yellow button with the white printing around the black backround. It's a simple black button with a white icon on the button (car with an open trunk). I contacted SHR about this. They responded the company that used to supply the yellow button went out of business and this was from a new supplier. It's a Big 3 OEM supplier. I'm a bit disappointed with the look, but will go ahead and use it. Too bad.
If you go to SHR's web sight, they have updated the picture with a picture of the new button.

I met a guy a few weeks ago that had the trunk release button installed in his 07 CS at his FORD dealer and they charged him $150.00 (W0W) They put it in his center console and it was the YELLOW button.

Default Trunk release button in

I installed the button kit I got from SHR today. Installed it in that little removable panel in the console storage box. Works great, out of sight.
