Two things I do NOT keep in the glove box or console are the registration and proof of insurance. They are hidden somewhere in the car. I don't want someone to break in and know where I live. Also, if someone were to steal the car, they might just rummage around in the glove box and console and find these documents if they were stopped by the police.

I use the trunk pop button next to my remote door unlock buttons on my keys. It's even closer to my hands than a trunk pop button in the glove box.

when my car was stolen that stuff was in the car. I'm not too worried, if anyone comes into my house they'll get an AR15 in their face

Thats not a bad idea Art. Registration is not required for Illinois, heck, its on the bumper as Cheech n Chong say, lol. And my insurance cards do not have an address on them. But I do have tire purchase receipts in there since the tires are covered by a nation wide warranty, and I do travel.
So hell, they steal my car, the only thing that my home address will do will give them the location to drop it back off, lol.
