Not that bad in the rain actually
pretty bad once it gets cold tho
stangs spending the winter indoors but once the temp started to really drop there was def a loss in traction
MTAS, your car looks great but how the heck did you get a 295/45 on the rear with an Eibach kit? No rubbing?
Thanks!
No rubbing at all. I've had those springs on the car since the spring of 2005, and the wheels and same size tires since December 2005. No issues!
Now I'm thinking about getting Nitto 555's so I can do the minimum of 285 in the rear. These seem to be a popular (summer) tire. How do they hold up? Especially in the rain, and if anyone has *gasp* the experience of using them during the winter.
They do excellent in warm weather, good even in rain. Below 40 degrees, not as well. Don't even think about driving 555's in snow.
Came home 1 day after a dusting on the roads. Won't do that again.
Either run a different set of wheels/tires for winter or keep shopping.
I'm really leaning towards just having a winter setup. Plus all that road grime and chemicals won't do my rims any good either.
it really is the best option...you already got rims so you need 400-600 for winter tires and then whatever the new wheels/tires cost. the good news is there is no hurry for the winter tires since you arent going to do this for awhile anyway right?

I'm hoping winter will be done and over within the next month or so. Then I can jump on the summer setup, will be about a good half year before I have to pay out for winter ones.
Then comes the guilt trip that my current tires still have tread, but then if I wait, it will be another season (next spring) before I can get my new rims. Plus I don't really have confidence with these stockers anymore, though they have been ok to me in the warm months.
lol, why do I always make everything so complicated
I'm either considering 245/45/18 and 285/40/18 or 255/45/18 and 295/45/18. Want to get bigger rubber out back, but I also want to lower the car and afraid of rubbing.
I'm shopping for a used 20s staggered set-up as I have snowies on my stockers. Here is BC Canada, we have a shwack of rain.......probably like 60% out of the year, and I'll have no probs going with a summer set-up for the non-winter months (50-50- hwy-city) - I read a tire comparo with summer tires and they didn't do bad @ all in the wet - then again, the temp was in the 60s+. I may be a little different tho in the way.......I'll take what i can get --- summer tires, A/S.......I don't give a $hit - as long as they're 20x8.5 & 20x10s with 40%+ rubber. gl meng
