I've had mine off for a year now - it was always dirty and when I pulled it off to clean under the hood last time I just left it off. No problems, hasn't affected my paint, stripe or scoop at all.

Your hood will get much hotter sitting in the sun than it will from engine heat. If you want, remove it. No ill affect.

Jim is the paint in decent condition? I've had mine pulled partially off and the paint is not covering 100% of the under hood area. You can see through the paint in some areas its so thin.

I left mine off when I did the Shaker...
I'd had to cut a square hole to make it work but I don't like the way they look when they age, so off it stayed.

Was just going to say this, some have reported not the entire under hood being painted.

No liner on my cowl hood for 3 year or so, no issues.

I would have to do something with the paint under the hood regardless. The paint on the leading edge of the liner has rubbed down to the primer already. So there would be some work to be done even if the hood is painted underneath.

Mine wasn't finished under the liner - so I just used a "rattle can" to finish it up. I plan to get a new hood eventually (especially since my paint is bubbling on the edges) so didn't want to put a lot of time and money into covering up the primer.
